As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, NTSG has developed a new Event Code of Conduct, which sets a clear and transparent standard for all our events. Our aim is always to meet respectfully and provide a safe environment for staff, constituents and other meeting attendees, and we are committed to putting in place policies and procedures that promote this goal.
Also attached is our updated travel assistance policy. NTSG places a very high value on constituent engagement and is committed to assisting people to participate in meetings that we convene to progress your native title claims. However, NTSG receives limited funding from NIAA, and travel assistance costs have grown significantly since the organisation commenced operation. Whilst NTSG will continue to offer travel assistance to contribute to the cost of attending meetings, the organisation is unfortunately not in a position to cover the entire cost of attending meetings/events. NTSG also has legal obligations to account for money that we receive from NIAA, and as such we need to be able to demonstrate that we are applying appropriate and rigorous policies and procedures in respect of those payments.
Therefore, In line with the approach of other service providers in the sector, NTSG will require constituents to sign in and out of meetings, be present for the majority of the event, and provide a valid driver’s licence and vehicle registration (if they have driven to a meeting) to staff at the meeting registration desk. Once those details have been checked at the conclusion of a meeting, payment of TA will be processed. Whilst it is our goal to complete these payments as soon as possible, it may take up to 5 business days for all payments to be processed.
Please take some time to familiarise yourself with these documents, and contact NTSG if you have any questions or feedback. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation with these new procedures. You can click on the link below to view these and other policy documents.
